Piracetam | Nootropil
Piracetam (Nootropil) is the amazing drug with no negative side effects that dramatically improves brain function and stimulates the central nervous system, improving immune function all without any toxicity or addictive properties.
Piracetam is a member of the class of drugs known as nootropics or 'smart drugs'. Nootropics are known commonly as cognitive enhancers, improving cognitive functions of the brain such as memory, attention and intelligence.
And now because the patent has expired, you can purchase Piracetam over-the-counter, without a prescription! (See main page, Piracetam is no longer available without a prescription - we have included a link to a reliable source outside the USA that will supply Piractetam without prior prescription for your convenience. If you live in the US, check import restrictions. Piracetam is a
non-controlled substance.)
Clinical studies have shown
Piracetam has the ability to stop degeneration of mitochondria which are the engine blocks of your cells. This is why
Piracetam is considered to have life extension qualities, but it does so much more. Piracetam also has been shown to improve blood flow due to its oxygenating ablity. More oxygen in the blood means improved brain function along with:
- Prevention of abnormal blood clotting.
- Prevention of sickle-cell anemia.
- Improved hearing - stops tinnitus.
- Improves memory average of 45%
- Alleviates depression avaerage of 32%
- Increases alertness average of 50%
- Improves Immune System function.
- Increases ATP production.
- Improves learning ability.
Piracetam has been used successfully to treat alcoholism and alcohol withdrawal syndrome in animals and man. It has brought improvement, or slowed deterioration, in "senile involution" dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Piracetam has improved recovery from aphasia (speech impairment) after stroke, and restored various functions (use of limbs, speech, EEG, state of consciousness) in people suffering from acute and chronic cerebral ischaemia (decreased brain blood flow). Piracetam has improved alertness, co-operation, socialisation and IQ in elderly psychiatric patients suffering from "mild diffuse cerebral impairment".
Piracetam has increased reading comprehension and accuracy in dyslexic children. It increased memory and verbal learning in dyslexic children, as well as speed and accuracy of reading, writing and spelling.
Piracetam potentiated the anticonvulsant action of various anti-epileptic drugs in both animals and man, while also eliminating cognitive deficits induced by anti-epileptic drugs in humans. It has improved mental performance in "aging, non-deteriorated individuals" suffering only from "middle-aged forgetfulness". Elderly out-patients suffering from "age-associated memory impairment" given Piracetam showed significant improvement in memory consolidation and recall. Piracetam reversed typical EEG slowing associated with "normal" and pathological human aging, increasing alpha and beta (fast) EEG activity and reducing delta and theta (slow) EEG activity, while simultaneously increasing vigilance, attention and memory.
A key part of Piracetam's specialness is its amazing lack of toxicity. In clinical studies when giving Piracetam to animals (mice, rats and dogs), they found zero toxicity: 10gm PIR/kg body weight produced no LD50. What that means is LD50 (the term used to describe the point where 50% of test animals die at an LD or lethal dose), was zero. It is equal to giving a 154lb person about 1-1/2 pounds of
Piracetam as one dosage. It means
Piracetam is virtually "non-toxic". The study went on to show that after a year, there was no side effects, no birth defects, no behaviorial tolerance noted.
In one study, mice were given oxydipentonium which is a short-acting agent which stops breathing, at a dose which is sufficient to kill 90% of one test group and 100% of another, but in Piracetam treated mice there was a 90% and 100% survival rate. When substances, drugs or suppliments and Piracetam are taken together there is a synergistic effect that causes a greater effects than the sum of each when taken alone. This is true for other brain enhancing suppliments or even coffee. Human and animal studies have shown increased benefit from combining Piracetam with Choline, the raw material for neuronal production of both the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine, as well as Phosphatidylcholine, a fluidising component of cell membranes. DMAE is an excellent Choline precursor that passes the blood brain barrier better than Choline or Lecithin.
What does all this mean? During the past 30 years, the Piracetam nootropics have been used to treat an amazingly broad range of human ailments and conditions, either alone or with other drugs, with moderate to major benefit.

They have been used successfully to treat dyslexia, epilepsy and age-associated memory impairment. They have successfully treated post-concussional syndrome, vertigo, alcohol withdrawal, cerebrovascular insufficiency and hypoxia. They have shown benefit in normalising blood flow parameters; decreased platelet aggregation, increased red blood cell (RBC) deformability, decreased adherence of damaged and sickle cell RBC's to endothelium (blood cell lining) and increased Prostacyclin (PGI2) production and activity.
By increasing oxygen in the blood and increased circulation to the brain, there is a marked improvement in immune systems function, stops mitochondria degeneration, reduces fatigue, increases ATP production, increases athletic performance. It makes sense therefore, that when taking Piracetam (with DMAE as I have begun do), that it has a
marked affect on my hunger. In addition to becoming more productive during the day, I find that I am simply not thinking about food like before. Logic tells me that if ATP production is up & more oxygen is getting to my cells then my cells are functioning at higher levels, utilizing the available energy. Perhaps this is why
I am not hungry since at a cellular level, the cells are not looking for more energy, (eg: food), but using what is already there more efficiently. If this is true, then I expect to see some
extra pounds being shed, without really trying to diet.
In middle aged and older individuals who do not yet suffer any specific neural malady or major mental impairment, nootropics may not only slow down or postpone entropic brain aging, but they may even reverse some mild neural/ mental decline. Thus a person at 50 might be smarter, have better memory, quicker reflexes and greater vigilance and alertness than when they were 40.
Piracetam in combination with Choline and / or DMAE is absolutely essential as a suppliment if you truly want to improve your immune system, feel more energy, think more clearly and improve the quality of your life. Personally, I began to notice the effects within 48hrs. Productivity and clarity as well as a noticable change in my desire to eat. The DMAE listed above I purchase in capsule form but the Piracetam comes as a powder. I'll be honest, the taste is horrible so it needs to be mixed in order to drink it. I drank it in water once just to try it. WOW! Sort of reminds me of the after-taste you get from real phentermine. But, and I'm not one who takes lot's and lot's of supplements, this is one I don't think I'll ever stop using.
